Sarah, what a great analogy. “Humility is a salve to my pride.” Humility is such a powerful state of being, it can act as a salve to many prickly situations. Thanks for the pause suggestion. Taking pause to shift from judgment to nonjudgment is a great way to neutralize any tense talks. As well, making the link between body language and judgment is key. Judgment creates a lot of stress in the body. Releasing stress from the body via nonjudgment can help your body to heal as well connect you more masterfully to the important people in your life, such as your boyfriend.

For me, it’s a body language thing. When I am judging my boyfriend during our tense talks I can literally feel stress inside my whole body. If I take a moment to pause, reflect, and release judgment my body relaxes and I can speak more calmly and clearly. Humility is something I work on regularly. I definitely have a know-it-all part of my personality that rears its head! Humility is like a salve to my pride.
