Cooperation, not competition. Compassion. Connection.

What I found interesting in your article was where you quote IHM saying, “The heart has it’s own independent nervous system, referred to as ‘the brain of the heart.’ There are at least forty-thousand neurons in the heart—as many as are found in various sub-cortical centers of the brain.” Studies show our hearts demonstrate they have their own thinking capacity. The heart literally has it’s own independent nervous system which communicates with the brain to give it signals with it’s own “point of view.”

I’ve come across the ‘heart/mind’ concept in my reading and studies for years. I always took it as ‘listen to your emotions as well as your intellect.’ I have to say in the last year I’ve come in contact with my ‘heart/mind’ as a cognitive organ. What a shocker! I find myself doing things like turning into a seemingly full parking lot as my ‘mind’ is sputtering, “Why’d you do that?” only to find an open spot hidden from view. Or saying yes to classes not ‘knowing’ what they’re even about, only to find they contain meditation exercises or information that I need at this time. These things ‘felt’ right.

Do I ‘understand’ what’s going on? Nope. Am I having fun and seeing results? Yep. Thank you for bringing attention and awareness to this movie and these ideas.

Cool, Sarah! Worthy dialogues are what change the world. Conversation creates powerful vision. A powerful vision is the foundation of action. As well, when we unite many things can be accomplished. Think of a bunch of little ants. Unites ants can build a molehill, not because they are strong alone, but because they choose to have unity just for that particular mission. Could we be more like the ants and really make good things happen?

My favorite part was the mention of man being designed to take care of his brother. My whole body relaxes when I think of this as a focus in my life. As well, the film sparked a worthy dialogue between my friends and I about how we could unite to make positive changes in our local community. It is a must see!
