How is intuition practical, you may ask? For example, if you lose your car or house keys, your intuition can help you find them.  Or, if you are driving and get lost, you can tap into your intuition to get back on track to your destination.  I recently experienced a fun and meaningful intuitive experience that I would like to share with you. Perhaps this story will inspire you to explore your intuition more deeply. […]

Hi Jay, thanks for sharing your story. Body intuition is very wise. Often our strong minds can override our body’s centers of knowing. The body has a fun way of “tricking” the mind sometimes to think we are going to one place for one reason but, in reality the “real” reason we are going is in fact very different. Just as you described. A good practice to build body intuition is to practice, a few times a week, following your body without knowing the who, what, when, why or how of the “reason” you are doing what you are doing. Isn’t it amazing to think the intelligent organizing force that guides our digestion, hair growth, and height is also simultaneously interacting with a live field of possibility and guiding us with precision.

I believe I recently had the the experience of body intuition. At the end of my recent visit to Maui, I was in Paia looking for a Maui bumpersticker. Something like ‘Keep the aloha spirit’, to express the gift of my visit. Nothing. Then as I started driving away I decided I wanted a cup of coffee and stopped and parked again. Went in to the shop, ordered my cup, turned and there on the counter was a bumpersticker ‘The answer is LOVE’. I only took two sips of the coffee, my body didn’t really want it. But I have my bumpersticker. Thank you for the chance to share and for sharing your insights, Alison!

What an amazing story, Sandy. A perfect example of of how your inner ear picked up communication about things to come and with such precision. You have a gift. Follow it!

Hi Garrett. Thanks for your comment. What a perfect example of using your inner eye for guidance. I think it is easy for most of us to fall into a heady and linear lifestyle. It takes an inner commitment and resolve to live the “less traveled path.” The great thing about intuition is it never leaves us. It only awaits our attention to return to its voice. I look forward to hearing more of your future sixth sensory stories and will have to check out Pullen’s song “The Sixth Sense.”

I have experienced each of them at different times but over the past 5 years, my intuition has changed from Deja vu to live intuitive hits. For example, 3 years ago when I first started working in my current position, I was introduced to several Board members at my first Board meeting. When introduced to the President, I recieved the number 9 followed by “he would not be the President after “9”. I did not know at the time whether this was days, weeks or months, just that it was not years. Furthermore, when I met the Vice-President the same day, the question “are you going to be ready to be President?” came up in my spirit. My intuition, to this point, had not usually been so vocal and so clear, so I just smiled and went about my business not mentioning this to anyone until, 9 months later when a letter was received, that due to health reasons, the President could no longer continue and the then Vice-President took his place.
I began paying much closer attention after that!

I recall at different times praying and then being given visions or feelings that helped me make a decision. Once when trying to decide whether to take an apartment in an unknown neighborhood, after saying a prayer, I opened my eyes and saw a woman pushing a baby carriage with another child alongside. It told me that this was a safe place for children. Another time I had to make a decision about my living situation and a calmness followed that reminded me of the twenty-third psalm. I cannot say that I have done or experienced anything like this recently. When I was younger I read William Blake: “How do you know but every Bird that cuts the airy way, Is an immense world of delight, clos’d by your senses five?” So I took the wrong lesson from it, became more and more cerebral, in my head, dissociated from my body and my senses. Today,it occurs to me that it is a yes and situation, that I need to be present to what my five senses say and that there is a sixth, an intuitive quality beyond that. The jazz pianist Don Pullen wrote a tune called The Sixth Sense, the timing of which was in 5/5 or something like that, Pullen suggests the everyday world of living of the five senses and not using the sixth, intuition. Thank you for sharing your powerful insights and experiences.
