It’s that time of the year again. Spring is here. The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming and the bees are buzzing. This week, stop and smell the roses. There are many benefits you will receive by doing so!
1)Stop. Slow down. Take a walk through your neighborhood or nearest park.
Flowers are kindred to your soul. Flowers can lift your mood, remind you of the beauty of life, and inspire your sense of awe. Bottle the beauty of the flowers in your memory. Recall in times of trouble, challenge, or anxiety. Flowers are powerful healers, free of cost.
2) Smell the Roses. Your sense of smell is very powerful. The scent of flowers can stimulate brain function. The Essentials of Aromatherapy shares, “As scents are inhaled, the smell travels across the olfactory nerves located inside the nose and then up into the part of the brain that controls our moods, our memories and our ability to learn.”
Stopping to smell the roses (or the beautiful flowers in your neighborhood) is a simple way to get present. When you are present you are free. Free to be in the moment and in awe. Give it a try and inspire a friend to stop with you. 🙂
After posting this article one of my long time family friends and devoted readers, Lynne, sent me a photo of the flowers outside her house. Aren’t they gorgeous? Flower power rocks. Thanks for the photo Lynne!
